2091 Notes

I like Marilyn Monroe’s body type. I’d say I prefer it. However, I’m seeing a lot of this “skinny women suck!” or “when did we start preferring skinny over this?” talk lately and I think it’s the wrong way to go about tackling the issue.
To me, it’s about being healthy. If someone is naturally skinny or has a quicker metabolism, why make them feel bad that they look that way or are the way they are? Isn’t that the same thing we do to plus-sized women, just in reverse?
Everyone should be happy with themselves. A positive self-image is absolutely necessary, no matter how much you weigh or what you look like. Yes, it’s not a great idea to starve yourself, but neither is eating fried butter on a stick. Do what you have to do to be healthy. Live a long life. Enjoy it your way.
So men and women who prefer a different body type than what Hollywood (these days) is selling us: good for you. You have the right idea, but your execution is flawed. Remember: it’s not about swinging the pendulum back the other way, it’s about stopping it completely.
